HTTP Serial Tunnelling with Perle Device Servers

March 8th, 2010

Are you aware that you can do serial tunnelling with Perle Device Servers without changing firewall settings by using HTTP Tunnelling?

This function is a feature of the Perle 4.1 firmware, released in November 2009, which enables access to remote serial devices over the internet without permitting any services in your firewall other than HTTP web access, which you probably already permit. Perle was the first manufacturer to provide this facility. You can add it to your existing products by upgrading your firmware.

vbulletinspam.jpgAs reported in a recent message from the manufacturer, M86 Security has won Top Award in the Virus Bulletin Anti-Spam Comparative Review January 2010.

The report cites,“M86’s MailMarshal SMTP spam filter, which runs on Windows Server 2003, made its debut in the VBSpam test in November with commendable results, but did even better in this test: it saw its false positive rate reduced significantly, while barely compromising on the spam catch rate, and it was the only product in this test with a final score of more than 99%.
